When it starts to get chilly out, I find myself making waffles pretty often. In fact, our Sunday breakfast usually consists of waffles of some kind. And in my house, I'm the designated waffle chef. I have the best recipe for waffles that are truly delicious AND any lazy chefs dream; its all done in one bowl, with ingredients everyone has in their kitchen. Literally foolproof and delicious. Perfect for Christmas morning!
Makes anywhere from 8-12 waffles, depending on the size of your waffle iron.
Ingredients:
2 cups of All-Purpose flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 eggs (beaten)
1 teaspoon of vanilla (but you can add another 1/2 teaspoon if you want a stronger vanilla taste!)
1-3/4 cups of milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Directions:
1) In a big bowl, combine all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, sugar and salt)
2) Create a well in the center of your dry ingredients and add your wet ingredients
3) Mix until fully combined
4) Cook in waffle iron (according to instructions given by the manufacturer; all waffle irons are a bit different!)
5) Enjoy!
Variations and Toppings:
Chocolate waffles - add 1/2 tablespoon of cacao powder
Chocolate chip waffles - add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (I like to use milk chocolate ones)
French toast waffles - add 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon, substitute granulated sugar with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
My favourite topping combinations for my waffles are:
Banana and chocolate chip
Berries and maple syrup
Baked apples and cinnamon
Pecans and maple syrup
Baked apples and caramel
Enjoy xo
I have been looking for a simple waffle recipe that I used to use years ago. This is the one and tastes delicious without all the complications (egg whites).
ReplyDeleteturned out very yummy can't wait to make them again
ReplyDeleteTried this recipe this morning...it is the easiest waffle recipe! I will use this recipe again and again! Tasted delicious!
ReplyDeleteGood recipe will use again.
ReplyDeleteIs it 1 and 3/4 of a cup of milk?
ReplyDeleteYes
Deletegreat recipe, much easier than the one I was using, will definitely use it again! thanks so much for sharing it :)
ReplyDeleteThis came out great. I even abused them a little before cooking them. Kids wanted rainbow waffles. I divided into 4 bags with food coloring. It got man-handled and survived to tell the tale. Very versatile recipe.
ReplyDeleteI don’t have a waffle maker do you think it would work for pancakes?

Can you make ahead of time & reheat ? If so, how would you reheat to keep from getting soggy?
ReplyDeleteI make double batches and refrigerate the leftovers and just pop them in the toaster to reheat them. I usually try to cook them a bit on the light side so they dont burn in the toaster.
DeleteAlso when I make big batches for brunch I put them on cookie sheets with cooling grids on them and them put them in an oven at low temperature to keep them crispy.
Great recipe! I tripled the batch to make sure that there are leftovers for the week.
