Foundation Review Friday: Covergirl 'Ready Set Gorgeous' Foundation

So many drugstore foundations get a lot of hype on the internet, but I feel like Covergirl's 'Ready Set Gorgeous' foundation never really got much attention. I guess I can understand why; packaging wise, it isn't exactly the most intriguing. There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, but I feel the plastic and bright pink on it may make you think twice about it. Which I think is a shame, because this is a truly fantastic foundation.

I myself am guilty of judging the foundation by it's packaging. In fact, I probably wouldn't have even tried it if it wasn't on sale. Even once I did, I didn't even have the highest expectations for it. Of course, I was pleasantly surprised.

The claims-

  • Oil-free formula
  • Medium coverage to give a natural, flawless look

The facts-

Here is what I found with this foundation:

  • It comes in 12 different shades
  • This foundation gives about a medium coverage, that is buildable without becoming cakey.
  • Applied well with both a brush or a beauty blender, but I found a brush gave better coverage.
  • Long wearing, especially with a primer underneath (it lasted me 12 hours once, paired with the Benefit Porefessional).
  • It has no noticeable scent.
  • It didn't cause any breakouts, irritation or reaction in my skin (I have dry, sensitive skin).
  • It did not cling to any dry patches/rough areas on my skin.
  • It did crease (or kind of settle strangely?) a little bit in some areas after a few areas, but nothing extreme.
  • It set to a very natural looking semi-matte finish.
  • Does not oxidize

The Verdict

Honestly, this has to be one of the best drugstore foundations I've tried in a while. Besides the fact that it's super affordable and easily accessible, it is a really good formulation. I was really impressed with this and I definitely will be repurchasing this when I run out, which is a lot to say for a drugstore foundation. I highly recommend giving this a try. It works great on my dry skin, but since it has an oil-free formula, I think it would be great on oily skin types as well.

1 Year of Covid-19: A reflection

It feels like just yesterday we were all feeling the anxiety and uncertainty of a new disease that was spreading quickly around the world that no one truly understood yet. We were facing the first wave of cases, the fear of going outside and being around people and the first round of quarantines and restrictions.  It feels like just yesterday, but also so long ago.  I, and I am sure many others, am feeling a mix of emotions.  Sad for the loss of comfort we once had. Grief for all the lives lost and permanently changed. Thankful for my health and that of my family. Gratitude for the scientists and frontline workers alike, working tirelessly behind the scenes I hope that one day we can return to a new normal. I hope that one day I'll be able to go to work and not feel  afraid  to get too close to my coworkers and patients. I hope that no one will ever again have to face the end of their lives all alone. I hope that no one has their life cut short because of...
