Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

Hey everyone! Just stopping by today with a quick review on my new go-to foundation at the moment: an oldie but a goodie, the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation.

I won't ramble on too long about this product because I definitely could, so here is what I've noticed with it in the time I've been using it so far:

  • Coverage is medium but definitely buildable.
  • Finish is natural, almost dewy but not quite.
  • You need to set it with a powder because it will stay tacky to the touch even after a while.
  • It has a light, fresh scent that goes away very quickly after applying it.
  • Didn't cause me to break out or any irritation to my sensitive skin.
  • It felt very hydrating and comfortable; GREAT for dry skin types
  • Definitely lives up to the long wearing claim; lasts well through heat, humidity, sweat, etc.
  • Very light feeling on the skin, you don't even notice you're wearing foundation.
  • Bonus: FINALLY a drugstore foundation with a shade light enough for my non-tanned skintone (very fair skinned girls will understand what I mean!)
The Bottom Line

I love this foundation! While I wish I didn't have to set it with powder which can feel drying on my skin, it's otherwise super comfortable and everything I look for in a foundation! Plus it's drugstore, so you can feel good about the price. Definitely a must try for dry skin types looking for an affordable foundation. I'm not sure how well it would last on oily skin (let me know in the comments if you've tried it and have oily skin!!) but I think this is a great product.

Annabelle Quad in 'Grape Vine': Swatches & Review

Annabelle 'Grape Vine'
What's that? Another purple drugstore palette? Why yes, it is. I know the obsession is real and weird, but I am still on the hunt for the perfecr purple palette.
Just from appearance, can we talk about how pretty these shades are? The shade Violet is kind of a dream come true for me. It doesn't quite translate similarly from the pan to the lid, but it's still pretty to look at.
Lets talk abut the shadow. The main issue I have with this palette is that the pigmentation is just not where I need it to be. If you really want an opaque colour on the lid, you will need to spend some time working to build it up.

I really appreciate that there are some matte shades in the palette. You find plenty of purple at the drugstore but not so much matte purple, so props to Annabelle on that.

The shadows themselves lean on the more stiff and powdery feeling shadows, rather than the buttery, soft shadows that I tend to prefer. It doesn't look bad, but you will definitely need to spend a bit more time working with them if you want bold colour.

The final verdict: This is a fairly average palette. It's unique to me because very few drugstore brands (if any at all?) offer matte purple eyeshadow like this, however the formulation is very typical of drugstore quality. Not the best, but not bad by any means.

Review: Wet N' Wild Photofocus Foundation

Hey everyone, long time no talk. I'm in the midst of my final exams so I've been pretty dead to the world, but I promise I've been trying out a TON of new products so stay tuned for reviews! 😀
So, I hadn't tried out a new foundation in ages until I picked this one up, and I knew from the first time I used it that I NEEDED to review it. It was so hyped up so I had pretty high hopes from the start.
I'll start off by saying that I was so impressed by the shade selection on this foundation. There are 20 different shades which is pretty great for a drugstore foundation. I'm so happy I was actually able to find a light enough shade for my skin which tends to be an issue with some foundations at the drugstore.

What I Noticed:

  • Medium coverage, but definitely buildable
  • It smells like paint... thankfully the smell fades away but yeah, paint smell
  • No pump but you get the product out with a paddle type thing that works pretty well
  • Fairly long lasting but at the end of the day I find it settles a bit strangely around my nose and between my eyebrows
  • You definitely need to set it with a powder or else it will remain tacky
  • Applies well with both a brush or a beauty blender
  • Not 100% transferproof but pretty close to it

Overall, this foundation did have its drawbacks but I really did like it. Besides the fact that it was crazy affordable ($6 US, I believe?), it was a really solid drugstore foundation. I think that I would recommend this more for dry to normal skin types, as I don't think it would hold up as well on oily skin.

Let me know what you think if you've tried this/want to try this!

What I Bought this Month: March Makeup Haul!

Hi everyone! I wanted to do some kind of haul since I bought quite a lot of new makeup this month, so I figured I'd just do a monthly haul showing you everything I picked up this month! Let me know if you like these and maybe I'll make it a monthly thing!

During the spring break, I made a little road trip to the US where I got to pick up some drugstore products that we don't have here in Canada, specifically Wet n' Wild and Milani. The CVS I went to didn't have the biggest selection, but I'm still really excited about the things I picked up!
From Wet N' Wild I picked up the PhotoFocus Foundation, which I've heard great things about. I'm most excited about the highlighter I picked up in the shade 'Boozy Brunch'. I mean, how gorgeous does that look???
I also picked up two of the Liquid Catsuit Matte Liquid Lipsticks in the shades Nudist Peach and Give Me Mocha. You can see swatches of them on my Instagram here!
The Milani section of the CVS I went to was pretty wiped out (which is a shame because I really wanted to pick up the baked blush in Luminoso that everyone raves about!), but I still did get to pick up one of the (absolutely stunning) rose blushes in the shade Romantic Rose.

I also made a little trip to Sephora and picked up two products I've been wanting to try for a while. I finally caved and picked up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz since I've been getting a bit more serious with my brow routine lately but a lot of brow products are way too pigmented for my already thick, dark brows. I figured this one would offer just the right amount of pigment to fill in my brows without making me look clown-like.
I also picked up the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Baci which is a really cool grey-mauve colour that pushes me out my comfort zone but still looks really cool. I honestly can't believe I waited this long to pick up one of these; the formula is INSANELY good.

What did you pick up this month? Let me know in the comments below and let me know which products you'd like a full review on!

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator 'Ice'

Unless you've been living under a rock, I'm sure you know that this summer is about the glow. This is by no means a brand new product, but I really wanted to do a full review on it because I think it's time we talk more about drugstore highlighting products.

As gorgeous as all the high end highlights are (and oh my, are they ever gorgeous), I was on the hunt to find a way to get that pretty, luminous glow for less. I don't know if you've looked around the drugstore for highlighters lately, but while the selection is definitely improving, it's not huge. I've been really determined to find a winner though, so I picked up L'Oreal's Liquid Glow Illuminator in the shade "Ice".
These liquid illuminators come in 3 shades. "Ice", the one I picked up, is the lightest of the 3, a silvery/pearlescent pink, which is so stunning on lighter skin tones. They also have a darker rose gold shade (which was a bit dark for me, since I am quite fair), and a golden-bronze one which I can imagine must be so stunning on deeper complexions.

Albeit drugstore, this product was not cheap. L'Oreal tends to be on the pricier side of drugstore products and this was no exception; I forget how much I paid for this one, but it was somewhere around $18 CAD I believe, which for a drugstore highlighter is a bit expensive. I gave it the benefit of the doubt though, since the selection of drugstore highlight options isn't the biggest, and it swatched really nicely in store.
So, the real question here is: was it worth it? After playing around with it for a bit, I think it is. The product gives a really pretty luminous glow to the cheekbones. The formulation goes on very smoothly and blends easily. It is a little bit glittery, which I know can be a turn off for some people, but I didn't find it to be too chunky or over the top. I think the best way (for me at least!) to apply this is to warm it up with your fingers and then to gently tap it onto any area you want to give a nice glow. I found this to give a more even, smooth application.
Overall, is this a show-stopping, game changing highlight? No, not really. But if you're looking to save a few pennies while still getting a really pretty looking glow, I'd give this a shot.

Drugstore Haul!!!

Hey everyone! I did a bit of makeup shopping at the drugstore today and I thought it'd be fun to share my purchases with you all!

Firstly, there some truly amazing sales going on so I definitely encourage you to go check out your nearest drugstores and hopefully find some great deals like I did! Secondly, this may not be the most interesting haul in the world (1. I'm on a budget and 2. I mainly focused on eye and lip products) but I'm so excited with my new purchases!!!

What I got:
-Maybelline Pumped Up! Colossal Mascara
-Maybelline the Falsies Flared Mascara
-Marcelle Kohl Eyeliner in Black
-Annabelle Smudge Liner eyeliner in Wahine Blue
-Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsick in Sugar Plum
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Wine With Everything (Pearl Finish)
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Violet Frenzy (Pearl Finish)
-Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Plum Velour (Shine finish)
-Nyx High Voltage Lipstick in Wine & Dine
-Nyx High Voltage Lipstick in Tiara

I'm so excited to give these a try. I purposefully chose a few lipsticks with a pearl finish because I have a feeling those are really going to be big this year. I love the pearl/metallic range Lime Crime has put out this season but I'm not a huge fan of the brand itself so I'm looking for similar products elsewhere! Hopefully these come out nice!

I will try all these out and report back if any of them are great! (or really really bad).
Hoping you're all having a great 2016!

Review: Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub

I figured that for my first review on this blog, I'd start with a product that is something of a staple in my skincare regime. I've been purchasing this scrub for about 2 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
One thing about this product that I love is how little product you need to get your face clean. Bonus: the bottle usually lasts quite a long time because of this, even if you use it every day.
It smells so nice and fresh, and the menthol in it leaves your face feeling cool, tingly, refreshed, and of course, clean. Its also great to clean off face makeup.
I'm pretty sure this product is suitable for all skin types as I tend to have extremely dry skin in the winter and oily skin in the summer and I use it all through the year without problems (although in the winter I usually use a good, thick moisturizer afterwards and in the summer I use a lighter one or none at all).

My skin can also be sensitive but since this product isn't too harsh, it didn't irritate it at all.
I didn't notice it doing much to get rid of acne, but I think it definitely played a role in preventing any major breakouts, since I'm noticed I've had less than with any other cleanser or scrub.
Overall, I really do love this product and I will definitely continue to buy it until I find something that would beat it (which to this day, I haven't!)
I would definitely recommend this to someone looking for a great face product without the high price tag. Also, if you enjoy the cool feeling of menthol in your face products, you will love this!
Its by far the best drugstore exfoliating scrub I've tried thus far!
