Saturday Swatches: Coastal Scents Hot Pot in 'Tuscany'

I'm back to swatching my single eyeshadows from Coastal Scents. The quality of these shadows never cease to amaze me. They're so buttery and creamy, with pigmentation you'd see from high end eyeshadows.
This shade in Tuscany is such a pretty warm terracotta shade. I love using this in the crease when I'm doing warm shimmery eye looks. It looks so pretty with gold on the lid!
More swatches from Coastal Scents to come! Do you own any single shadows from them?

Saturday Swatches: Too Faced Melted Metal - Metallic Jelly SWATCH and Review

Those of you who know me (or have seen my makeup collection) know I adore Too Faced. My top favourite palettes are from them and I love their foundation. So it makes me a bit sad to write this review, because I didn't really like this product.

Okay, to be clear, I don't think this is a bad product. I just don't think it delivers what it claims to. I really love the formula of Too Faced's Melted lipsticks, but my issue with this metallic one is... well... it's not metallic?
As you can see in my (massive) swatch (I was trying to see if I could squeeze out some hidden melted metal magic, I suppose?), this is a very pretty grape purple with the very slightest (almost invisible) metallic sheen that is completely lost on the lips. It also does not go on opaque at all, so your lips basically look a streaky purple once you apply it.

If you work with it a bit, you can pull off a shiny vampy lip, but it's just too much effort to me for it to be worth it! Sorry Too Faced! 😭 I absolutely recommend the regular Melted lipsticks though! Those are amazing!

Coastal Scents Hot Pot 'New Penny' Swatch

Hey everyone! Today's Coastal Scents Hot Pot swatch is of 'New Penny' which honestly just blows my mind every time I use it because it truly has the pigmentation, blendability and just general quality of a higher end eyeshadow. You can see it just from the swatch. It is the most stunning copper shade that looks amazing all over the lid. I'm obsessed!!!

Hope you're all having a lovely week so far!

Coastal Scents 'Atomic Apricot' Hot Pot SWATCHES

You guys.... can we take a second to talk about the Coastal Scents single eyeshadows (aka Hot Pots)? I didn't have the highest expectations for them, considering how affordable they are (and I mean AFFORDABLE), but wow... quality, pigmentation and blendability is on point.

Bottom line: if you're on a budget, you need some of these in your life. I recently picked up a TON of them (I owned 3, and bought another 12 or so during their recent sale) and I've decided to swatch them all for you because I'm just so in love.

Today we're swatching Atomic Apricot! (side not: can we appreciate the name? How cute and very fitting)

Definitely keep an eye on Coastal Scents because when their single shadows go on sale, they are $0.99 each... Crazy right! Look forward to even more swatches coming soon!

Annabelle Quad in 'Grape Vine': Swatches & Review

Annabelle 'Grape Vine'
What's that? Another purple drugstore palette? Why yes, it is. I know the obsession is real and weird, but I am still on the hunt for the perfecr purple palette.
Just from appearance, can we talk about how pretty these shades are? The shade Violet is kind of a dream come true for me. It doesn't quite translate similarly from the pan to the lid, but it's still pretty to look at.
Lets talk abut the shadow. The main issue I have with this palette is that the pigmentation is just not where I need it to be. If you really want an opaque colour on the lid, you will need to spend some time working to build it up.

I really appreciate that there are some matte shades in the palette. You find plenty of purple at the drugstore but not so much matte purple, so props to Annabelle on that.

The shadows themselves lean on the more stiff and powdery feeling shadows, rather than the buttery, soft shadows that I tend to prefer. It doesn't look bad, but you will definitely need to spend a bit more time working with them if you want bold colour.
Annabelle 'Grape Vine' Swatches
The final verdict: This is a fairly average palette. It's unique to me because very few drugstore brands (if any at all?) offer matte purple eyeshadow like this, however the formulation is very typical of drugstore quality. Not the best, but not bad by any means.

Lise Watier Eden Tropical Palette: Swatches & Review

I mean, can we talk about this packaging for a sec? SO pretty
Hey everyone! For the past little while I've been making an effort to swatch some of my older palettes because
1) They're so pretty and who doesn't like to look at pretty makeup?
2) It reminds me of some of the pretty palettes I own that I don't use nearly enough
I picked the Lise Watier Eden Tropical palette at a warehouse they had a while back (for those of you who don't know this about me: I'm a huge sucker for a good warehouse sale). How pretty are the shades in this palette?
It definitely isn't the most wearable palette on it's own. There are no matte shades in this palette which can be a drawback for some people. Regardless, it swatches nicely if a little bit powdery, and the pigmentation on the lid is pretty good. I'm definitely going to try using this palette more this summer.
Have a great weekend lovelies!

Saturday Swatches: Clinique All About Eyeshadow Quad

I love Clinique skincare. But when it comes to their makeup products, I really haven't tried all that much. A while back  I went to a Cosmetics Company Outlet, and this quad was included in one of the sets I picked up.
These aren't really colours I'd normally gravitate towards, but the more I look at it, the more I find it super pretty. The shadows themselves are very smooth and decently pigmented. I find them pretty easy to blend as well.
My only issue with this quad is that I wish there was a matte transition shade. The shade 'Sunset Glow' might have been it, but it comes off a bit more on the metallic side when applied to the skin.

Regardless, you can still create a pretty and cohesive look using only this palette, for sure. I really do think this was a well thought out quad that gives you the basics you absolutely need: a creamy white/highlight shade, a crease shade, your pop of colour and a dark shade to smoke it up.
As you can see, Sand Dunes is the only truly matte colour in the quad, and is a bit on the powdery side, but still buttery and pigmented nonetheless.

Anyway, I thought this was a cute quad and it's something different than everything else in my collection! What's your favourite eyeshadow quad?

NYX HD Blush in 'Rose Gold' - Review & Swatches

When it comes to blush for the summertime, there are two things in particular that I'm looking for. I tend to lean on the more coral/peach side of the colour spectrum, and I like my blushes to have a bit of a glow. I initially picked up the Nyx HD Blush in 'Rose Gold', thinking it might be a dupe for the Nars 'Orgasm' blush, but when I actually compared the two, I preferred this one. It's all the pretty, glowy peachy pink, minus the chunky glitter.
The blush itself is very blendable and very pigmented. It is a bit powdery (as you can see in the photo) and the product kicks up a bit when you put a brush to it, but it applies so flawlessly on the cheeks.
This blush has become my go-to summer blush. It gives a beautiful flushed colour to the cheeks, along with a golden glow, so you could even skip on the highlighter when wearing this product. It pairs so nicely with both bold or natural looks, making it a great, versatile blush to have in your collection!
What is your go-to summer blush? Let me know

The Lip Pencil by BITE Beauty

Note: I received these items complimentary from Influenster and BITE Beauty for review purposes. As always, all opinions are 100% honest and my own!

Okay, real talk for a second. Lip pencils have never been my go-to makeup item. I've tried so hard to get into using lip pencils, but I really couldn't. Either they were too stiff and dragged on my lips, or I just found they didn't last and did nothing.

So I was definitely intrigued to try out BITE Beauty's Lip Pencils. Could this be the product I've been looking for? I've heard such amazing things about their Amuse Bouche lipsticks, so I had high hopes that I would find similar quality in these pencils.
From the first initial swatch of these, there's one thing I noticed that I've never experienced with any other lip pencils: these things are damn creamy. They apply so smoothly, it's essentially like they've repackaged a creamy lipstick into a pencil format. This does unfortunately mean that they will snap easily if you apply too much pressure when using them, but if you're gentle, they will give such a nice, smooth line.
I received the shade 044 and 020, with the Amuse Bouche lipsticks in Whiskey and Honeycomb to go with them. I was so instantly drawn to the 044/Whiskey combo because it is just the most pretty vampy lip ever. It's a reddish brown with hints of plum and I just cannot get enough of it.
I was a touch disappointed with 020/Honeycomb though. Formula wise it's fantastic; no issues there. The shade is just a bit too nude for my lips, and I look a little bit washed out (corpse like...). I still wanted to get good use out of this one though, so I applied a gloss on top if it with a pink undertone and it looks stunning.
The Bottom Line: are these worth it? Absolutely. They've made me a believer that lip pencils are actually worth using, and that says a lot. Would I repurchase/purchase more shades? Again, absolutely. I'd love to pick up a nude more flattering to my skin tone. This is definitely a product I could see myself using on a daily basis.

Colourpop 'Weenie' Super Shock Shadow (SWATCH)

This eyeshadow is so stunning on the eyes, you really have to try it to understand what I mean. I think I might have worn it every day for a week all over my lids with just a darker brown buffed into the crease. It's just so gorgeous.
Colourpop's website describes this one as a "true rose gold" but it falls a bit more coppery on my skin tone I think. Its still such a pretty, satiny colour that looks even prettier when the light hits it. Definitely a must have if you're planning on ordering some shadows from Colourpop!

Colourpop 'KathleenLights' Super Shock Shadow Swatches

As promised, I'll be posting swatches of all the things I ordered from Colourpop all through this week. I had to post this one first though because, I mean, just look at it. Is that not the most gorgeous golden colour you've ever seen? I kind of just want to slather it all over my eyelids.
It applies super pigmented (one swipe is all you need) and the colour is honestly breathtaking. I own a lot of bronze, gold and neutral colours, but I feel as though I don't have a straight up pure gold colour like this, so I'm very excited to try it!

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SINGLE SHADOW 'ELECTRO' SWATCHES

I knew as soon as I got this eyeshadow I would absolutely need to swatch it because it's just so unique.
The ABH website describes it as duo chrome bright purple with lilac blue reflect. It's honestly so gorgeous on the eyes, I can't even begin to explain it!

As I've mentioned many times before, Anastasia Beverly Hills single shadows are among the best single shadows I've ever tried. Creamy, pigmented, smooth, easy to use. Not more you can ask for!

ABH's single shadows have some of the nicest formulation around. They are so pigmented, buttery smooth and easy to blend. China Rose looks so incredible when the light hits it!

Manicure Monday: CND Shellac 'Hotski to Tchotchke'

Can we talk about this colour? I feel like a mermaid.
So for my last shellac manicure of the summer (back to school in 2 weeks, aaahhh), I decided to go for this gorgeous metallic turquoise (it has more green undertones than you can see in the picture). It's called 'Hotski to Tchotchke' and yes, I had to Google it to find out how to spell it.

I'm so obsessed with it, I honestly cannot stop staring at my nails. I'm gonna miss having colourful nails for 15 weeks but I thought a bright blue like this was the best way to end it.

What colour are your nails right now?
