Annabelle Quad in 'Grape Vine': Swatches & Review

Annabelle 'Grape Vine'
What's that? Another purple drugstore palette? Why yes, it is. I know the obsession is real and weird, but I am still on the hunt for the perfecr purple palette.
Just from appearance, can we talk about how pretty these shades are? The shade Violet is kind of a dream come true for me. It doesn't quite translate similarly from the pan to the lid, but it's still pretty to look at.
Lets talk abut the shadow. The main issue I have with this palette is that the pigmentation is just not where I need it to be. If you really want an opaque colour on the lid, you will need to spend some time working to build it up.

I really appreciate that there are some matte shades in the palette. You find plenty of purple at the drugstore but not so much matte purple, so props to Annabelle on that.

The shadows themselves lean on the more stiff and powdery feeling shadows, rather than the buttery, soft shadows that I tend to prefer. It doesn't look bad, but you will definitely need to spend a bit more time working with them if you want bold colour.
Annabelle 'Grape Vine' Swatches
The final verdict: This is a fairly average palette. It's unique to me because very few drugstore brands (if any at all?) offer matte purple eyeshadow like this, however the formulation is very typical of drugstore quality. Not the best, but not bad by any means.

Lise Watier Eden Tropical Palette: Swatches & Review

I mean, can we talk about this packaging for a sec? SO pretty
Hey everyone! For the past little while I've been making an effort to swatch some of my older palettes because
1) They're so pretty and who doesn't like to look at pretty makeup?
2) It reminds me of some of the pretty palettes I own that I don't use nearly enough
I picked the Lise Watier Eden Tropical palette at a warehouse they had a while back (for those of you who don't know this about me: I'm a huge sucker for a good warehouse sale). How pretty are the shades in this palette?
It definitely isn't the most wearable palette on it's own. There are no matte shades in this palette which can be a drawback for some people. Regardless, it swatches nicely if a little bit powdery, and the pigmentation on the lid is pretty good. I'm definitely going to try using this palette more this summer.
Have a great weekend lovelies!

Saturday Swatches: Clinique All About Eyeshadow Quad

I love Clinique skincare. But when it comes to their makeup products, I really haven't tried all that much. A while back  I went to a Cosmetics Company Outlet, and this quad was included in one of the sets I picked up.
These aren't really colours I'd normally gravitate towards, but the more I look at it, the more I find it super pretty. The shadows themselves are very smooth and decently pigmented. I find them pretty easy to blend as well.
My only issue with this quad is that I wish there was a matte transition shade. The shade 'Sunset Glow' might have been it, but it comes off a bit more on the metallic side when applied to the skin.

Regardless, you can still create a pretty and cohesive look using only this palette, for sure. I really do think this was a well thought out quad that gives you the basics you absolutely need: a creamy white/highlight shade, a crease shade, your pop of colour and a dark shade to smoke it up.
As you can see, Sand Dunes is the only truly matte colour in the quad, and is a bit on the powdery side, but still buttery and pigmented nonetheless.

Anyway, I thought this was a cute quad and it's something different than everything else in my collection! What's your favourite eyeshadow quad?

Saturday Swatches: L'Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow Quad in 'Stacked Heels'

Those of you who have been following my blog for a while know about my persistant journey to find the best drugstore purple eyeshadows. This journey is what lead me to pick up the L'Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow Quad in 'Stacked Heels'.
The shades in this quad are right up my alley but of course purple shadows are not easily done, so as stunning as they look in the pan, they don't quite translate that well on the eyes. As you can probably see in the picture, the shadows are a bit stiff and powdery, which definitely affects the pigmentation.
The white shade in the quad is also on the chalky side. I still think that this palette is workable, and with some patience and work, you can make a beautiful look with this quad. It will just take a bit longer and more product to build up the desired pigmentation.
So, overll, is it my holy grail, hidden gem purple eyeshadow of the drugstore? Not really. But still something I see myself occasionally using.

NYX HD Blush in 'Rose Gold' - Review & Swatches

When it comes to blush for the summertime, there are two things in particular that I'm looking for. I tend to lean on the more coral/peach side of the colour spectrum, and I like my blushes to have a bit of a glow. I initially picked up the Nyx HD Blush in 'Rose Gold', thinking it might be a dupe for the Nars 'Orgasm' blush, but when I actually compared the two, I preferred this one. It's all the pretty, glowy peachy pink, minus the chunky glitter.
The blush itself is very blendable and very pigmented. It is a bit powdery (as you can see in the photo) and the product kicks up a bit when you put a brush to it, but it applies so flawlessly on the cheeks.
This blush has become my go-to summer blush. It gives a beautiful flushed colour to the cheeks, along with a golden glow, so you could even skip on the highlighter when wearing this product. It pairs so nicely with both bold or natural looks, making it a great, versatile blush to have in your collection!
What is your go-to summer blush? Let me know

Saturday Swatches: Annabelle Smokey Nudes Palette

Hey everyone!
I have so many eyeshadows lying around and I love nothing more than getting to swatch and play around with them, so I've decided that every Saturday I'll be swatching some for you all.

This week I'm swatching the Annabelle Smokey Nudes Palette. It's a cute, small palette that also happens to be pretty affordable as well ($12). It's an older palette but it's still available online and I believe in stores too.
The shadows themselves are very smooth, a bit on the dry side but blend fairly well. They are, however, pretty lacking in pigmentation as you can see in the swatches but with some primer, they can layer on fairly nicely.
I think this is a pretty versatile drugstore palette, since it doubles as a neutral palette and a smokey palette; you really get the best of both worlds here.

I think this would be a great palette for someone looking for a good product for subtle daily eye looks and for a beginner looking to play around with a palette that gives you both nudes and smokey shades.

Some of the more metallic shades in the palette are actually very pretty and apply so smoothly onto the eye.

The Verdict:

I would recommend this palette for someone looking for a decent drugstore palette and who don't necessarily want the highest pigment around. You can absolutely make some very pretty looks with this palette.

The Lip Pencil by BITE Beauty

Note: I received these items complimentary from Influenster and BITE Beauty for review purposes. As always, all opinions are 100% honest and my own!

Okay, real talk for a second. Lip pencils have never been my go-to makeup item. I've tried so hard to get into using lip pencils, but I really couldn't. Either they were too stiff and dragged on my lips, or I just found they didn't last and did nothing.

So I was definitely intrigued to try out BITE Beauty's Lip Pencils. Could this be the product I've been looking for? I've heard such amazing things about their Amuse Bouche lipsticks, so I had high hopes that I would find similar quality in these pencils.
From the first initial swatch of these, there's one thing I noticed that I've never experienced with any other lip pencils: these things are damn creamy. They apply so smoothly, it's essentially like they've repackaged a creamy lipstick into a pencil format. This does unfortunately mean that they will snap easily if you apply too much pressure when using them, but if you're gentle, they will give such a nice, smooth line.
I received the shade 044 and 020, with the Amuse Bouche lipsticks in Whiskey and Honeycomb to go with them. I was so instantly drawn to the 044/Whiskey combo because it is just the most pretty vampy lip ever. It's a reddish brown with hints of plum and I just cannot get enough of it.
I was a touch disappointed with 020/Honeycomb though. Formula wise it's fantastic; no issues there. The shade is just a bit too nude for my lips, and I look a little bit washed out (corpse like...). I still wanted to get good use out of this one though, so I applied a gloss on top if it with a pink undertone and it looks stunning.
The Bottom Line: are these worth it? Absolutely. They've made me a believer that lip pencils are actually worth using, and that says a lot. Would I repurchase/purchase more shades? Again, absolutely. I'd love to pick up a nude more flattering to my skin tone. This is definitely a product I could see myself using on a daily basis.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SINGLE SHADOW 'ELECTRO' SWATCHES

I knew as soon as I got this eyeshadow I would absolutely need to swatch it because it's just so unique.
The ABH website describes it as duo chrome bright purple with lilac blue reflect. It's honestly so gorgeous on the eyes, I can't even begin to explain it!

As I've mentioned many times before, Anastasia Beverly Hills single shadows are among the best single shadows I've ever tried. Creamy, pigmented, smooth, easy to use. Not more you can ask for!

Review: Nyx Extra Creamy Lipstick Collection + SWATCHES!!

Hello everyone!
Today I wanted to take some time to talk about the Nyx Extra Creamy Lipsticks. I feel like not enough people talk about these considering they're so great. I only own 7 of these and I tend to reach for these the most out of my lipstick collection.

Here are my impressions of them:

Formulation- They call them "extra creamy" for a reason. They glide onto the lips so easily and your lips never feel dry with these on. You do need to be careful not to smudge them around for that reason though, so I do recommend you use them with a lipliner.

Pigmentation - These are super pigmented. Like, one swipe is all you need kind of pigmented. I love it.

Colour range - As usual, Nyx is pretty great with their colour range. You have a good selection here for all skin tones, as well as if you're looking for a bold in-your-face colour or a standard nude.

Scent/taste - Yeah, that's probably the thing I dislike about these. They have a weird soapy/sunscreen taste, I can't really describe it. Some of them are worse than others (I notice it most in 'Thalia'), but it goes away after a bit so it's not a huge deal

Lasting power - I'd say these are pretty average in terms of lasting power. They are not transfer proof, so you will probably need to re-apply after eating or drinking, but besides that, they don't fade and will stay well on your lips!

The shades I have are:
-Thalia
-Doll
-Haute Melon
-Vitamin
-Fire
-Blush
-Chloe

Overall, I really recommend you pick up some of these lipsticks. If you're looking for a solid, dependable lipstick, these are they way to go.
