Dealing With Death

Studying and working in the health care field, I have been exposed to death many times. It is upsetting, especially if it was a patient that you had cared for yourself, but at the end of the day, you return to your family, perhaps for a greater gratitude for their life and health. However being on the other side of this, being a part of the family grieving the loss of one of their own, is a whole other story. One that I had not been exposed to before, in my 20 years of life. And there are not many words I can find to describe the overwhelming and confusing mix of emotions flowing through me right now. I find solace in knowing that I am not alone in this. That grief is a part of the human experience, and at some point in our lives, each and every living being will experience this. And that I have a family, going through the very same emotions, some even more than myself, with whom I can grieve and heal. No matter how much we may be exposed to death, I don't think it is possi

First Impression: L'Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Extraordinary Oil

Disclaimer: I received these products for free from Influenster  for review purposes. All opinions are 100% honest and my own. After having used the shampoo, conditioner and mask once, I have decided to write a first impressions review. Normally I like to try a product out a little more before writing a review, but I was so blown away from the results I got from just one use, that I had to write about it. I was pretty skeptical about this product starting out. I have dry hair, and believe me, I've tried every product under the sun with just about every oil out there promising soft, silky locks with just one use. These promises are not new to me. The results, however, were something new. After one use of the 3 products, my hair was noticeably softer and shinier. I actually have spent the day running my fingers through my hair and asking my friends to do the same. I am SO impressed. Besides making my hair soft and shiny, a main requirement for me to make this product a hit

First World Problems: Canadian Winters, A Poem

Oh  My  God It's so cold.  Going outside is physically painful.  Why did I get out of bed?  My car won't start, my coffee is already cold Everything is white Everything is slippery I'm tired of shovelling And wearing 10 layers of clothes And still being cold  Why is it so cold in my house?  Will I ever be warm?  What does it feel like to be warm?  Okay in all seriousness, it's freezing outside. I'm the kind of person who is always cold, no matter what the season, so this is just unbearable and I'm already dreading the thought of going outside tomorrow.  Wish me luck!

Hi everyone! So the people at Influenster ever so kindly selected me to receive one of the L'Oreal Hair Expertise VoxBoxes and it just arrived in the mail today! I have been looking forward to it's arrival for quite some time now, and I'm so pleased it's here!! For those of you who may not know, Influenster is a site you can join for free and have the opportunity to recieve free products for review purposes! It's seriously a really great review community. You basically review products on the site and connect your social media accounts to it (don't worry, they don't post anything nor use any of your personal info) in order to have higher chances of being selected to receive free products. It's seriously that easy. Here is the link if you want to join; I highly recommend you check it out if you love reviewing products!! Anyway, I thought some of you may enjoy a little post of the unboxing experience. The box itself was a bit scuffed up from the mail,

Nyx 'Soft Matte Lip Cream' Review

If you look through my lipstick stash, you'd notice that I own a LOT of burgundy/dark berry shades. This is because I spent a lot of time (and money) looking for the perfect one. It took a while, but I found it. And that was Nyx's Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen. This product is perfect for me. The colour suits my skin tone perfectly and is the perfect dark red that isn't too vampy, but just the right amount of sexy, dark and dramatic. Aside from the colour, there are many reasons to love this product. The reasons that led me to buy 3 other shades as well. The other 3 I have are Monte Carlo, which is your standard, bright red lip, Transylvania, a deep berry/merlot colour and San Paulo, a peachy/coral pink. The lasting power is great. It lasts for a long time without fading so you wont be constantly reapplying. Contrary to most matte lip products, it doesn't dry out your lips and it also doesn't cling to every little dry patch on your lips. So you can ju

January Favourites!

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late on my favourites this month (blame school!) but I have a ton of things that I LOVED this month so this will be a long one! If you would like a longer, more in depth review of any of the products I've mentioned, let me know in the comments and I will definitely do one! Makeup: Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation I've been using the Too Faced 'Born This Way' foundation pretty steadily since the summer so I was looking to try something new this month and I found a great one. This foundation has the nicest texture and gives incredible coverage. The staying power is also pretty great for a drugstore foundation.   Nyx High Voltage Lipsticks These lipsticks are so incredible that I've gone back to purchase more about 3 times. I own around 6 of them now and I'm so in love with them. They do everything you want from a lipstick: they're creamy and hydrating, they have a great lasting power and the best thing about them
