L'Oreal Private Sale Haul!

Hey everyone! A while back I had a chance to go to the L'Oreal Private Sale, which essentially is a huge invite-only warehouse sale that happens twice a year, including all brands under L'Oreal. I love these sales because 1) you can find amazing deals on products you love and 2) you can pick up products you've been curious to try for a discounted price.
Anyway, here's what I picked up!:
L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows: It's no secret that I'm obsessed with the formula of these eyeshadows, so I always make a point to pick up a couple every private sale I attend. I picked up the shades:
-Pepsy Coral
-Endless Chocolat
-Purple Obsession
I also picked up the Dermablend Corrective Compact Cream, since I've been looking for a fuller coverage foundation lately that would suit my sensitive skin. I wanted to buy the liquid foundation but they didn't have one light enough for my skin tone at the sale, so I picked up the one in the compact instead.
 I also picked up the:
Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray
L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Washable Self Tanner
Maybelline BabyLips Lip Gloss in 'Just A Glimmer'
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder
Lancome L'Absolu Rouge in 'Rouge Carrousel'
Maybelline Colour Jolt in 'Orange Outburst'
I also picked up some products from La Roche Posay that will hopefully cure the insane dryness my skin has been going though lately. I'm so excited to start using these!
I also picked up the big bottle of their Micellar Water for sensitive skin because it's holy grail status for me!

Hope you enjoyed seeing everything I picked up! I'm so excited to start playing around with everything!

My Spring Makeup Essentials: Pink

As soon as spring rolls around, my makeup looks tend to shift to the more pink side of things. I've really been loving the monochrome makeup trend these days because rosy eyeshadow and pink lips are right up my alley.

If you're like me and you love these kinds of looks, here are my favourite makeup products that you need in your life, like, yesterday.

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
I whip out this palette for almost every eyeshadow look I ever do. It is just a must have.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette
I waited on picking up this palette for a long time but I finally bit the bullet and went for it. Obviously I love it. If you're like me and you love pink-toned makeup looks, don't hesitate on picking up this palette.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Palette
If you're looking for a more affordable palette that still packs a punch, I highly recommend the Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette. The metallic shades in this are so freaking gorgeous, it blows my mind.

Too Faced Melted Lipstick in 'Melted Chihuahua'
This is more of a rosy nude on my lips, and it's just one of those lip colours that complements any eye look, so it's definitely a must have in my collection.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in 'Baci' and 'Patina'
I've recently fallen in love with this liquid lipstick formula (why did I wait so long to try these!?). The colour selection is fantastic as well. Definitely pick one (or many!) of these up.

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Blush
This is my holy grail pink blush right now. If you want a blush that makes your cheeks look flushed and healthy, with a touch of glow, this is the one.

Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadow in 'Girl Talk'
I've actually be loving this lately for highlighting. It's a pretty pink toned champagne colour that really complements any pink makeup look you do. It also looks really nice if you're very fair skinned and have a hard time finding a highlight that isn't too dark.

Spring 2017 Project Pan!

Hey everyone! So I really enjoyed my Winter project pan and since I have SO many products in my collection that either need more love or need to be used up ASAP, I decided I'll be doing a project pan with a different selection of products every month.

Here's what I chose for Spring 2017!

Of course, I'm bringing back the Nyx Prismatic Eye shadow in 'Girl Talk', since that was the one product in my last project pan that was pretty neglected. Hopefully I can get some good use out of this one this time around!

The big one for this project pan is my Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. This was my favourite palette EVER, but since I've purchased so many palettes in the past few months, I feel like this ones been pretty neglected, so my goal is to get some good use out of this and to (hopefully) on at least 3-4 shades.
This will probably be the easiest product in my project pan, since I've already hit major pan on this one. This is the Maybelline Fit Me powder, which I'd really like to completely use up since it's not my favourite face powder ever.
The last two items are my Nyx HD concealer and my Annabelle Big Show Mascara. I like both of these a lot, but don't use them as much as I should. I tend to reach for my Maybelline Fit Me concealer more than this Nyx one, so I'm going to work on using this one up for the next few months.
The Annabelle Big Show mascara is a really nice mascara that I actually have multiple back ups of, but I'd really like to finish it up (for the sake of decluttering a bit!).

What are you working on finishing up? Let me know!

The BEST Lip Colours for Spring!

When it comes to seasonal makeup, my two favourites would have to be Spring and Autumn, As much as I love my vampy berry lips when the cooler months roll around, I love all the pretty colours I get to play around with in the spring time.

Here are the lipsticks that are pretty much always in my rotation all Spring long:
From Left to Right:

  • Wet N' Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Liquid Lipstick in 'Nudist Peach'
  • Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in 'Baci'
  • Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in 'Instigator'
  • Essence Lipstick in 'Coral Calling'
  • Maybelline Colour Sensational Lipstick in 'Vibrant Mandarin'
  • Nyx Lipstick in 'Vitamin'
  • Nyx Lipstick in 'Blush'
Let me know if you'd like lip swatches or entire makeup looks created with any of these! I'm so excited that it's finally spring!

Winter Project Pan Update!

Hey everyone! So here is my update on my winter project pan!
So: I completely finished the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation and the Benefit Porefessional primer which I'm really happy about.
The Maybelline Fit Me concealer seems to be one of those products that never ends! I use it on the daily and it just never seems to run out! I do think I'm on the last few drops of it now though.
I'm really happy with the progress I made on the Maybelline Blushed Nudes palette. While it doesnt look like much, I managed to hit pan on 2 more shades, which I think is pretty good. Forcing myself to use it more often also made me love it a lot more. This palette doesn't have the best reviews and I really don't know why because I really do think it's a great one overall.

One product it seemed really hard for me to make progress on was the Marcelle Kohl eyeliner, even though I was using it frequently and sharpening it as well. I realized pretty soon after though that the reason it never seemed to be getting smaller was because I actually have 2 of these and I've been using both of them unknowingly!
The one item that I made absolutely no progress with was my Nyx Prismatic Shadow in 'Girl Talk'. To be quite honest, I'm not even sure I used it at all. I find I get so caught up using my palettes I often forget to use my single eyeshadows, so I think that'll be my goal for Spring!

Have you used up any products lately? Let me know in the comments!

March Favourites!

It's that time again; new month, new batch of products I've been loving. I tried out a lot of new products this month so I had a really hard time narrowing this list down to an acceptable size, but I decided to go with the products I've used on a near daily basis throughout the month of March.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Granite
I was on quite a brow product hunt last month. I wanted something that could effortlessly fill in sparse areas without making my brows look too dark or too clown-like. This product is honestly so fool proof and looks so great. You can build up the pigmentation as well, so you can choose to go for a natural, subtle look or a full on Instagram style brow all with one product!

Nyx Dewy Finish Setting Spray
As a setting spray, I thought this product was good, but not good enough to keep me using it on a daily basis. I recently started using this to dampen my Beauty Blender and my foundation and concealer have never looked better! It makes any product I put on my face look super flawless and decreases any cakey-ness that can happen.
Wet N' Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick in 'Nudist Peach'
This liquid lipstick, besides being super affordable, is really awesome. It applies a bit watery and at times streaky, but its easily built into an opaque, even coat and it has a fantastic lasting power. This shade in particular is so great for the spring and looks so nice paired with pink or peach toned eye looks. I'm in love!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Stockholm'
Honestly, I'm sure if I look back in my monthly favourites posts, I'll probably see this exact product at least 3 or 4 times. This shade is my absolute perfect nude. It's extremely flattering, doesn't make me look dead and makes my teeth look super white. Bonus: it goes with any conceivable eye look, trust me on this one.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in 'Baci'
For days when I want to step outside my comfort zone a little bit, I've been going for this lip colour. It's a stunning mauvy grey type colour that is just so interesting to look at. This formula of liquid lipstick honestly blew my mind the first time I wore it. This stuff will not come off, trust me on this one. If ever you need a product that will stick around even while eating, drinking, kissing, etc. this is the one!

Essence Gel Eyeliner in 'Blue Lagoon'
I've probably also had this product in a monthly favourites before as well, but I had to bring it back again because there are no words to describe how great it is. This product honestly feels like a high end product you would happily pay $40 for. It just glides right on with the most incredible pigmentation. I put this in my waterline and not only did it stay put ALL day (at least 12 hours?), but it looked incredible.
Physician's Formula Happy Booster Blush
I had this blush stored away in my collection for the longest time and for some unknown reason I just never really used it all that much. I decided a few weeks ago to give it another shot and I'm seriously so in love with the colour that it gives my cheeks. As much as this analogy is overused, it really does make your cheeks look like you just came inside from a cold, winter day. A super pretty pink flush!
Maybelline 'Fit Me!' Concealer
This is just a great drugstore concealer. You really cannot go wrong with this. It will cover up a multitude of sins, including my crazy dark under eye circles, without looking obvious or cakey. It could probably pass off as a high end concealer and no one would tell the difference. So, so good.

What products did you love this month? Let me know in the comments below!

It's time for another empties roundup! I haven't used up too many products in the past little while, so I may start doing these posts on a quarterly basis, however I do have a TON of samples I need to test out, so let me know if you'd like to see me do a big review of samples I try!

Lets get into it!

Rimmel 'Stay Matte' Pressed Powder: It took me ages to get through this powder, but I can honestly say its one of the best I've ever used. It's super afforable and keeps your makeup matte and in place all day.

Too Faced 'Better Than Sex' Mascara: It seems I always have one of these in my empties posts, likely because it's my holy grail mascara. I've done a full review on this mascara in the past, you can read that here, but in brief, it lengthens, volumizes, and makes my lashes look unlike anything any other mascara can do.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara: I have a full review of this mascara on my blog as well, which you can read here, but once again, this mascara is one of the better ones at the drugstore. If you want long, voluminous lashes, this will definitely do the trick.

Arbonne RE9 Advanced Line (samples): I was sent samples of the full Arbonne RE9 Advanced Line to review (which you can read here), and I was pretty pleased overall! They each did something specific for my skin and I did notice a difference after using them.

Degree Motionsense Deodorant in 'Berry Cool': I normally don't mention deodorants in my empties, but I wanted to mention this one because I'm so in love with the scent. It's a super refreshing berry scent that I cannot get enough of!

Aveeno Eczema Care Hand Cream: If you've read my blog for a while, you know that I go through about a tube of this a month. It's my absolute favourite hand cream to soothe eczema.

Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel Cream: I finished this up early on last month. It's a great, lightweight moisturizer that I adore in the warmer months. I probably wont repurchase this until the Spring, but it's still amazing nonetheless.

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!

PROJECT PAN! (Winter 2016/17)

If there's something I learned from my no-buy back in the Fall, it's that I really do have a LOT of makeup, a lot of it that has been sitting around, unused or half used and forgotten.
That's why I decided I'm going to start my own Project Pan, to use up some of the products that need some loving/need to go.
So from now until March 20th, 2017, I'm going to be working on finishing up these products!
The products:
Maybelline 'The Blushed Nudes' palette
Benefit 'The Porefessional' Primer
Marcelle Kohl Eyeliner
Maybelline 'Fit Me' Concealer
Covergirl 'Ready Set Gorgeous' Foundation
Nyx Prismatic Eyeshadow in 'Girl Talk'

All of these are products that I love, but have either been a bit neglected in my routine, or have just been lingering around for way too long. So I chose them to encourage myself to put them to more use.
As you can see, I've already made a significant dent in this palette. My goal is to hit pan on at least 2-3 more shades though.
Realistically, do I expect to finish all of them up?
Definitely not, especially with the palette.
My main goal is to see a noticeable difference in the amount of product and maybe have finished up at least half of the products on my list.

Let the fun begin!

Friday, December 2, 2016

Can you believe it's already December? It's beginning to look a lot like..... exam season! Kidding, but not really. Hang in there students, the break is near! I can't wait to finally have more time to blog... November was a pretty brutal month for me in terms of school and time management!

This month was a really great one for me in terms of my makeup and skincare routine though. I just came out of a 4-ish month no-buy, which really renewed my perspective on using up my products and not buying more than I really need just because.

I also tried out so many new products, many of which I won't mention here (dedicated full reviews are on the way!), and I've discovered a ton of new favourites.
I went to the Lise Watier warehouse sale this past month and picked up their Blush Trio, and can we just talk about how pretty it is? I think its from an older collection, so I'm not sure if it's available any more, but I've been using it every day in November so I couldn't not share it. It gives the most perfect, winter rosy cheeks that I love.

Another thing I was on the hunt for this month was a new face powder, since I ran out of my beloved Rimmel 'Stay Matte'. I picked up Maybelline's Fit Me! Matte & Poreless Face Powder, and I've been loving it. I'm not sure if it's as good as the Rimmel one, but I've been using it every day and have no complaints at all. It mattifies and sets your face makeup without leaving your face looking powdery, and that's all I can ask for!
My favourite lip colour in November was hands down 'Pink Wink' from Maybelline. It's the coolest metallic rose colour in the most comfortable, long lasting formulation. I've never been a huge fan of the scent of Maybelline lipsticks, but this one doesn't bother me too much (maybe it's just because I love the shade so much, though!)

I've never been one to use setting sprays until I tried the Nyx Dewy Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray. This stuff has changed the game for me completely. It takes away any dryness or powdery finish and leaves your makeup looking like it just became one with your face. It's incredible.
I'm probably one of the biggest fans of L'Oreal's Infallible eye shadows, and this one in the shade 'Permanent Kaki' is definitely no exception. I've been stepping out of my comfort zone a lot lately in terms of eyeshadow and lipstick. A few months ago, I would have never thought I'd be wearing a shade like this on my eyes, but it's quickly become one of my favourites. It's a stunning metallic khaki colour that I honestly think would be flattering on just about any skin tone and any eye colour.

In a similar colour scheme, I've also been loving the Annabelle Smudgeliner in 'Cyber Jungle'. I've always been a huge fan of Annabelle's smudgeliners. They glide on extremely smoothly and pigmented. This one in particular is a khaki/taupe type colour that is suprisingly very pretty.

What did you love during the month of November?

October Favourites!

It's November!
Hi everyone! I apologize for my little break from the blogging world. I needed to put my focus 100% on my midterms, but now that those have been conquered, I'm back and excited to share what I have been loving all throughout the month of October!

October is my favourite month, mostly because it's my birthday month, but it has my absolute favourite weather as well. I am SO happy to be able to be wearing my huge cozy sweaters again.
Nyx Lip Lingerie in 'Ruffle Trim'
The amount of times I've been complimented on this lip colour blows my mind. It's a really pretty warm brown nude, which used to be somewhat out of my comfort zone, but I've been loving it lately.

Maybelline Fit me! Matte and Poreless face powder
Once my Rimmel Stay Matte powder ran out, I really needed a good, new mattifying powder, so I decided to give this one a shot. I'm not too sure if I like it more than the Rimmel one, but it makes my skin look so smooth and matte, without the powdery, cakey effect,

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I've been wearing a lot more colourful and shimmery eyeshadows rhis past month, and I needed something I could depend on to keep everything in check. This is a great product to prevent creasing and make sure everything stays where you want it to while lasting all day. I'm using a deluxe sample size and it's nowhere even close to empty, and I've been using it every single day for over a month now!
Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in 'Be My Highlight'
I really wish I found this product sooner. This is the best everyday highlighter I have ever used! It looks so natural and glowy, and doesn't accentuate any texture. Plus, depending on how much you apply, you can go from a subtle daytime look to a disco ball kind of glow with ease. All that, AND it's so affordable! There's no excuse not to pick this up!

Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
This has been my go to mascara all month when I wanted a more dramatic effect with my lashes. It volumizes like no mascara I have ever used ever. It really does make your lashes stand out. I was so skeptical about if this product would be all that great considering how inexpensive it was, but I was very pleasantly surprised.

L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in 'Amber Rush'
I heard the hype over this eyeshadow for ages but never really was convinced enough to go pick it up until lately but oh my god, is this ever pretty. It shimmers like no eyeshadow I have ever used before, it's almost breathtaking when it hits the light. I'm so tempted to go buy more shades of it now, it's that gorgeous.

These were the products that I particularly loved in October. I'm so sad that it went by as fast as it did! I had a really great month, and a lovely 21st birthday.

Here's to a great November!

PRODUCT EMPTIES!! : Review & Would I Repurchase?

Hi everyone! I don't normally do empties posts, mostly because I'm really bad at thinking to keep them before I just toss them in the trash, but I somehow managed to gather a few things this month and I figured I'd talk about them and whether I'd repurchase them or not.

L'Oreal Color Radiance Protecting Mask
I don't really have coloured hair. I've had highlights done a few months ago, but besides that, nothing new enough where colour protection is a must for me, so unfortunately I can't really comment on whether or not it prolongs colour. It does however make my hair smell incredible (I'd honestly buy it for the scent alone) and it really leaves my hair feeling really soft and nourished.

Aveeno Eczema Care Hand Cream
This is probably the 6th or 7th tube of this I've gone through. It's just that good. I really recommend this to anyone with eczema and is looking for a good cream minus the steroids. It would also be great for anyone with sensitive skin looking for a hand cream that is super hydrating and fragrance free. I honestly cannot live without this.

Nivea Sensitive Night Care Face Cream
This was a pretty decent night cream for me back in the winter when my skin was crazy dry. I finished it off this month, but it was a bit to heavy for my skin right now. I might repurchase it in the winter when my skin is drier, but for not there are many other ones I have that I prefer.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
This is very likely my favourite drugstore mascara. It's super lengthening and volumizing. I'm usually not a fan of rubber wands, but this one was great. I will definitely be repurchasing this one.

Olay Fresh Effects Acne Hater Deep Scrub
This is the second one of these I've used up and I'm already planning to repurchase ASAP. My skin has never been ovely acne prone, but since using this scrub my skin is blemish free about 98% of the time. It is just the right amount of exfoliation and leaves your skin feeling cool, soft and not overly dry.

Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara
I'll keep this short because I could go on about this mascara for years and years. It is my holy grail high end mascara. Anything you want in a mascara, this does it. Amazing.

TREsemme Botanique Nourish and Replenish hair mask
This was an okay hair mask. It didn't give me the intense hydration I expected from it. To me, it was light enough to use as a regular conditioner. (Do keep in mind that I have extremely thick, dry hair). It had a nice scent but I probably wouldn't repurchase this. I'm currently using the shampoo from this range though, and it is AWESOME.

That's all for my empties this time! Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you thought in the comments!

Foundation Review Friday: Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse

I'll be honest, for some reason when I picked up this foundation, I thought I would hate it. I primarily use liquid foundations, but this one is a thick, cream consistency type foundation, which I assumed would be pretty cakey, however I have to say I was pretty pleasantly surprised by this product! I haven't heard too many people talk about it though, which I think is sad because this product is a hidden gem in the drugstore for us ladies with dry skin.

The Claims

Cream-whipped consistency
Skin looks and feels hydrated for 14 hours
Best suited for normal to dry skin types
Provides "baby-smooth" finish on skin
Oil and fragrance free

The Results

The foundation felt more like a thick cream to me, not so much cream-whipped, so it did feel a little heavy on the skin upon application, however it doesn't look heavy or cakey.
I definitely notice that my skin looks hydrated while wearing this foundation. It's definitely a good foundation choice if you have dry skin.
It didn't cling to any dry patches or texture on my skin, so I can definitely agree with the "baby-smooth" claim.
This product does not set on its own. You definitely cannot skip using a finishing powder.
I do notice that this product, more than others I've been using, is not transfer-proof.
It comes with a sponge-like applicator, which works okay to apply it, but I definitely prefer a brush for it.
The finish on my skin is pretty dewey, even after setting it with a mattifying powder.

The Verdict

I like this foundation a lot, especially on days when my skin is more dry than usual and I don't want a finnicky foundation which will require me to exfoliate and heavily moisturize beforehand. I'm not crazy about the fact it's not transfer-proof (watch out when hugging people!), but I can live with it. I think I will love it even more during the winter months!

Foundation Friday: Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation

Another Friday, another foundation review! Today I wanted to talk about a foundation pretty new to my collection, which is Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin foundation. I mainly bought this product because there was quite a bit of hype about it on YouTube and I had high hopes for it.

The Claims

  • This product has SO many claims to it!
  • Longwearing
  • Brightens, smoothens and evens skin tone
  • Good for sensitive skin
  • Good for all skin types
  • Medium to full coverage
  • Reduces appearance of imperfections

The Results

  • I didn't find this foundation to last longer than any other drugstore foundations I've tried
  • It is not transfer-proof
  • It didn't irritate my skin or cause breakouts (I have dry, sensitive skin)
  • I did find that this foundation would cling weirdly to dry areas on my face
  • It applied well with both a brush and a Beauty Blender
  • It definitely needs to be set with a mattifying powder because I didn't find that it set well on its own (it stayed tacky)
  • It does not really hold up well against humidity and sweat
  • It gives a nice, demi-matte finish
  • It gave about medium coverage
  • It felt a bit heavy on my skin

The Verdict

Honestly, I had pretty high expectations for this product and I was pretty let down. It is not a bad foundation. In comparison to other drugstore foundations, it's pretty good and looks nice on the skin. If you expect it to hold up to all of the claims, then yes, you will be disappointed. But if you're looking for a solid drugstore foundation, then this is not a bad choice.

I recommend this for normal to slightly dry skin types. I would prefer to use this foundation in the fall and winter, because it doesn't stand up too well to humidity and sweat, so I really can't justify wearing this product right now.

If you've tried this foundation, let me know what you thought about it in the comments below!

Foundation Friday: Maybelline 'Dream Velvet' Foundation

For this week's Foundation Friday, I'm going to be talking about Maybelline's Dream Wonder foundation which I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with. I was initially very drawn to it, despite the very mixed reviews I had read/watched, because of the claims the product made. I really did have to try it for myself. If you are new to my blog and these reviews, I have dry and somewhat sensitive skin, which tends to complicate the process of finding good drugstore foundations.

The Claims
Hydrating, matte formula
Gel-whipped consistency
Ideal for normal to combination skin
Medium coverage
Soft matte finish

The Results
-I'm not quite sure if this product was really hydrating. In fact, I think the better word would be oily. I have dry skin, and after a few hours of wearing this product (and setting it with a mattifying powder!), I found myself becoming oily.
-On application, it did give a really nice soft matte finish.
-It had a really cool whipped gel consistency, which I found applied best with a brush. I felt as though my beauty blender absorbed a lot of the product when using that, so a brush is a lot better in this case.
-It gave just about medium coverage on me, but I did not find it to be buildable (it got cakey and patchy when trying to apply more product).
-The product is not transfer proof, so watch out when hugging people wearing white!
-I also noticed after a few hours, the product seperated a bit and looked a bit patchy and weird on oilier areas of my face (chin, forehead, nose).
I know a lot of this sounds pretty negative, and initially I was SUPER disappointed in this product. However, what I found to make a world of a difference with this product is using a good primer and setting it with a good powder afterwards. I've started pairing it with the Too Faced Hangover Rx primer and finishing with the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and it looks so much more flawless. No more separating or excessive oiliness.

The Verdict
This is a product you need to work with. I was initially disappointed, but I experimented with it and found a routine that makes this product look great on me. If you own this product and initially didn't like it too much, keep working with it and try different primers and powders until you find the right balance for you. It does sound a little tedious, but I was pretty determined to make it work for me because it wasn't cheap for a drugstore foundation ($17!)
This is not the product for you if you're looking for a "one step, slap in on your face and go" kind of product. If you're willing to put in the extra work though, it can look really nice.
Overall, not the best drugstore foundation by a long shot, but definitely workable.

My Experience at the L'Oreal Spring 2016 Private Sale

This was my first time going to one of the L'Oreal private sales, so it's safe to say I was pretty excited. I love going to warehouse sales, and since I'm on a bit of a budget (college students, you feel me?), finding some good deals sounds pretty exciting to me.

I went on a Thursday evening, so thankfully I did not have to wait in line, as I probably would have had I came earlier in the day or on the weekend. Just because there was no line did not mean there was not many people; oh no. It was super crowded and chaotic: which lets be honest, is half the fun of a warehouse sale.

So, here's what I've gathered from this sale as well as some helpful tips if you're considering attending one.

-Do not go in expecting mind blowing deals. Yes, you will find some great sales. For example, I left with a handful of Nyx lipsticks which were 2 for 1, nail polish was 2 for $3 and other daily/weekly promotions. However not everything was extremely marked down.

-Which leads me to my next point: know what you're looking for and know how much they go for in store. This way, you'll know if it's really worth it.

-Go on a weekday, later in the evening. The sale in my area was open until 9pm. Going a bit later in the day can save you the craziness of too many people.

-Check the emails they send you! Yes, it can get annoying to get tons of emails and you may just be tempted to delete them without even opening them, but definitely check those out. There are some really awesome promotions that may only last 1 or 2 days which you may not want to miss.

-Bring your own bag. At checkout, you'll be persuaded to buy one of their reusable bags. If you want one then feel free, but if you don't, bring a bag with you!

I ended up leaving with quite a few things which I am really excited to try out! If you're interested in seeing what I got, let me know in the comments below and I'll do a post on those! I got a ton of lipstick, eyeshadow and face products!
Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

January Favourites!

Hey everyone! I'm a bit late on my favourites this month (blame school!) but I have a ton of things that I LOVED this month so this will be a long one! If you would like a longer, more in depth review of any of the products I've mentioned, let me know in the comments and I will definitely do one!

Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation
I've been using the Too Faced 'Born This Way' foundation pretty steadily since the summer so I was looking to try something new this month and I found a great one. This foundation has the nicest texture and gives incredible coverage. The staying power is also pretty great for a drugstore foundation.

Nyx High Voltage Lipsticks
These lipsticks are so incredible that I've gone back to purchase more about 3 times. I own around 6 of them now and I'm so in love with them. They do everything you want from a lipstick: they're creamy and hydrating, they have a great lasting power and the best thing about them is how insanely pigmented they are. Let me know in the comments if you'd like a more in depth review with swatches of all the ones I have!

Beauty Blender
I put off buying one of these for so long but having now tried it, I can honestly say that the hype around this product is justified. The Beauty Blender applies my foundation and concealer better than a lot of my brushes do. In fact, I tested out a few products I didn't like once again but using the Beauty Blender to apply it, and they looked a hundred times better.

I had 3 back-to-back Shellac manicures over the course of December and early January and it left my nails really dry, brittle and weak. My nail technician highly recommended this product, which is essentially a treatment for your nails that applies like a clear polish but strengthens your nails with vitamins and makes them stronger. I'm so glad I decided to give this product a try. My nails were back to their normal, healthy selves in almost no time at all!

Skin Care:

Olay Fresh Effects Long Live Moisture! Satin Finish Lotion
I've struggled trying to find a good moisturizer that would leave my skin hydrated but also not overly greasy. They're not kidding when they say this moisturizer has a satin finish; you will not believe how smooth and silky it leaves your skin feeling. It hydrates but basically doubles as the perfect primer for your foundation. Amazing.

St Ives Oatmeal and Shea Butter moisturizer
I'm so lazy with moisturizing my skin, but now that it's winter and my skin is much drier, I don't have much of a choice. As soon as I tried this one, I was honestly changed (I know, that sounded really dramatic). This stuff is so nice I actually WANT to use it. It smells sweet and leaves the skin super hydrated and soft. And of course, the thing that makes or breaks a moisturizer for many; it is quickly absorbed and isn't greasy!!

Marcelle Micellar water
I've been using this product for months, so I can't say its really a January favourite... The reason why I'm including it though this this: I took it for granted. I ran out of it and was using a few different micellar waters only to rush back to buy another bottle of this. It's just so good. It removes all makeup in just 2 swipes of a cotton pad and doesn't sting your eyes. I could honestly rave about it for ages.

Breaking Bad
Yes, I know. I very well may be the last person on earth to watch this show. I put it off for so long thinking I wouldn't be that into it. Finally, I caught up to everything I'm currently watching and (with my boyfriends persistent encouragement) I started watching it. I won't say anything else about it other than the fact that I started it around the second week of January and I'm currently starting the 5th season... Yeah, its good...

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) by Mindy Kaling
If you're looking for a funny, light read, I recommend this book so so much. I love Mindy Kaling's style of writing and sense of humour. It's such an entertaining and quick read, I loved every minute of it.
