My 2015 Makeup and Beauty Favourites!

Hey everyone! So as 2015 comes to a close, I've gathered up all my favourite makeup products from this year into one big post! So here are the products that I loved ALL year and were my absolute favourites. I'll also be writing full reviews for each one of these products throughout the month of January for those of you who would like to know more!

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

By far the best foundation I've used probably ever. I love this stuff. I have dry skin so finding a good foundation is usually pretty hard for me since it always tends to settle in a very obvious way on my skin which is not the effect I'm going for... This foundation looks so natural, and also offers great coverage. Awesome.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
This mascara might just be my holy grail mascara. Does everything a good mascara should do; adds volume, length and curl. I probably used it almost every day this year (except for the past couple weeks because I've run out!).

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes palette
I've mentioned this palette before in a monthly favourites. And I still use it pretty much on an almost daily basis. The selection of colours complements my skin and look so natural and pretty. Lots of golds, rosy golds and gorgeous nude shades.

Lush Therapy Massage Bar
I adore this massage bar. It may just have taken the spot of my previous favourite (and sadly discontinued) Heavanilli. The scent is so nice but not too overpowering and it does what a massage bar should do. (No joke, it was in one of my dreams the other night... I think that means something about how much I love it). Not 100% sure if this counts as a "makeup and beauty favourite" but it makes my skin feel beautiful, so that should count for something!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
This is a new one that I've started using recently and it's already made its way into my 2015 favourites, so I think that says something about this product. There was a lot of hype surrounding this mascara and I normally don't buy into the hype, but desperate and in need of a mascara to temporarily replace my Too Faced one, I picked one up. This mascara is really lovely. It makes your lashes look super long and pretty but in the most natural way. I loveeee it.

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen
I had been wanting this particular product for SO LONG and it was always sold out when I went to buy it. I searched for MONTHS, no joke here. So when I finally got it, I was so so excited and my expectations were pretty much sky high. And it met every expectation. I finally found my perfect wine/burgundy lip colour and the formulation is amaaaaazing. So velvetty smooth and matte.

And thats it for my 2015 makeup faves! I hope you enjoyed reading this! What do you think of these products? And what are your 2015 favourites? Let me know!

Christmas Gift Suggestions For Your Girlfriend (Blogmas Day 5)

Before I begin with my suggestions, I think it's important to mention that no matter how difficult you think it may be to shop for a girl, it's actually pretty simple. And here's the best thing you can do: go on a shopping trip with them. Girls are pretty vocal about things they like and dislike, so you will definitely hear a few of the "Oh my god, I love this" and "I want this soooo much!" and even "How cute is this???". Take these as your hints. Not only will you be getting her something you know for sure that she will like, but you will get bonus points for being attentive, listening and remembering the things she liked.

If this fails, here are a few of my suggestions that I personally think would make great gifts. Of course, not all these apply to every girl, and maybe none of these will apply for your girlfriend. But what I personally believe is that if it shows that you put some thought into it and tried to buy her something she would like, then she will most likely love it.

Generally, I would recommend staying away from buying makeup and perfume unless its one that she's specifically mentioned that she likes and wants. Beauty products are a tricky (and costly!) business and you want to be sure you're getting something she'll love.

Getting your lady something from Lush is a great idea if you know she loves taking baths or is in need of some pampering. They have tons and tons of great stuff to choose from and if you're totally lost, the staff are always so nice and will help you choose something great. Bonus: they have some things that can be used as a couple, for example their awesome massage bars.
My suggestions: Sex Bomb bath bomb, Therapy massage bar, The Comforter bubble bar, Ocean Salt scrub and Butterball bath bomb. Also: most things from the Holiday range are fantastic! AND if you're totally lost, they make pre-packaged gift boxes that make your job that much easier!

If your girlfriend is the kind who loves to drink tea, getting her a set of fancy teas (and definitely a cute mug to go with it) would be a really sweet gift. For you Canadians, definitely stop at a David's Tea store and pick up some things from there! They have some really nice stuff for the holidays and they'll definitely help you choose the best gift!
I can't suggest much since tea is a personal preference, but their holiday teas are delicious as well as (my personal favourites) Blueberry Jam, Birthday Cake, Pumpkin Chai, Chocolate Rocket and Forever Nuts!

Personalized or DIY things
This is a really great one if you're low on cash or want to add a special something to your gift. Creating something personal is such a sweet gesture and no matter how much you spend, she'll be so amazed that you put a lot of thought and effort into it. My favourite suggestion would be to make a collage of photos of you both and put it in a nice frame. Bonus: have the frame engraved with your names and anniversary. If you're feeling a bit more artistic, you can make a mini scrapbook with photos and memories of the time you've been together. The choices for cute DIY gifts are endless! (Look up "DIY girlfrend gifts" on Pinterest and you'll find tons. You're welcome!)

One of a Kind jewelry
Buying your girlfriend jewelry is a usually a good choice (if she's into that). But getting her one of a kind jewelry adds that extra special touch that she'll really love and it doesn't have to be ridiculously expensive! There are tons of stores on Etsy that sell one of a kind, beautiful necklaces and bracelets for incredible prices. Just browse through the jewelry and choose what you think she'd like! There's also a handy section that narrows down the search options to "Holiday gifts --> for a girlfriend --> jewelry" and you can find that right here. Once again, you're welcome!
I personally have this necklace and its incredible. You can find it here
An activity you can do together
This is hands down my favourite possible gift to both give and receive. Any activity you two can do together and have her looking forward to is a fantastic gift. And the possibilities are endless: for bigger budgets, you can book a vacation or weekend getaway for the two of you. Concert tickets, local events, sports events (of course, if she's into that. Don't get it as an excuse for you to go) are all other great options.

And that concludes my holiday gift guide for 2015. I tried to keep it simple and cover options for both bigger and smaller budgets. But of course, don't take my word as truth. You know your girlfriend best and believe me, it's not too hard to figure out a few things she'd like! Hopefully this has helped give you all some ideas!
Let me know what you think of this guide in the comments below!

My November Favourites! (Blogmas Day 1)

Hello there! Welcome to the beginning of a brand new month and also the first day of Blogmas! No better way to start a new month than to share what I loved throughout last month! I haven't done a favourites post is quite a while and there was a lot of new products I tried (and loved) during the month of November! So here we go....

1) Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in 'Copenhagen'
Anyone who knows me knows I've been on the hunt for the perfect autumnal dark red lip colour. Seriously, I think I own about 8 wine-coloured lipsticks that I bought, tried a few times and liked, but ultimately were not exactly what I was looking for. Well I can finally say that I've found it. The perfect dark wine/berry lip. I also totally adore Nyx's Soft Matte Lip Cream formulations (seriously, if you haven't tried them, definitely pick one up! They have tons of different colours and they're incredible)

2) Benefit Erase Paste
An oldie but I goodie. I used to be in love with this stuff a few years ago. I hadn't been using it at all recently, but since its getting close to finals season and the late nights are becoming even later nights, I figured it was time to get serious on my dark under eye circles. I honestly forgot how much I loved this. Its so thick and creamy, so it really does the job well when you need some serious concealer work.

3) Nars Satin Lip Pencil in 'Rikugien'
When I'm not wearing a dark lip, then I tend to go for a more natural lip colour. This one is seriously so pretty. A true "your lips but better" colour. Bonus: it feels SO nice and satin-y on the lips.

4) Lush 'Therapy' Massage Bar
Oh my goodness, this stuff is so great. When the weather starts to get chilly, my skin starts to get super dry. This has pretty much completely corrected that. As with all massage bars, your skin does feel a bit greasy at first but once it soaks in, oh my goodness. They weren't kidding when they named it 'Therapy'! It also has a really nice scent that isn't too overwhelming. I highly recommend this.

5) Paper Towns
I was bored a couple weeks ago and decided to watch a movie. I realized I hadn't seen Paper Towns yet (how?? I'm such a John Green fan too), so I decided to give that a watch. It was such a cute movie, I really loved it. And I was truly impressed with Cara Delevingne's performance (I wasn't sure how good she'd be to be completely honest. Bottom line is, I thought it was super cute and entertaining, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for something fun to watch.

6) Steve Madden Coat
I got a new coat back in October for my birthday but I didn't get a chance to wear it until it started getting a bit cold out (we had our first snow fall last week!). This coat is everything I wanted and more. Its super warm and furry on the inside while sleek and classic on the outside.

So that's what I loved during the month of November! Let me know what you've loved last month in the comments! Happy December!

August Favourites

Another month has ended, and with it brings tons of more amazing products that I've loved all month long! Here's what I loved the most:

Too Faced Born This Way foundation
I'll probably write a full, in-depth review of this product but OMG. This foundation has taken the #1 spot in my list of favourite foundations. Its honestly so incredible and I've been using it every day. I'd recommend it to anyone. I can't get enough of it. It looks so natural, feels so lightweight and nice on the skin, yet offers great coverage.

Lush R&B Hair moisturizer
It's been super hot and humid in August where I live, and that usually causes my hair to be out of control and frizzy but this product has honestly saved me. Besides the fact that it smells soooo nice, it makes my hair manageable and soft. I usually put it in my hair when its still wet, but you can also put it in while your hair is dry to tame frizz and flyaways. It's a must have product if you ever have issues with frizziness!

Jergens Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Moisturizer
I cannot say enough good things about this moisturizer. I've had some extremely dry skin lately (because of the sun) and this moisturizer has worked miracles. It smells super lovely and sweet, and it makes my skin incredibly soft without the gross, greasy feeling. It's also amazing to put on freshly shaved legs to make them extra smooth!!

Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in "San Paulo"
All around amazing product. Tastes nice, creamy formula that dries into the loveliest satin finish and the colour lasts ages. I've been wearing it every day for the past 2 weeks and I just cant get enough of it. The shade I have is in a lovely natural looking pink which is perfect for every day use to add that little something extra to your lips.

Victoria Secret Strappy Back Leopard Lace Push-up Bra
Aaaaahhhhhh probably my favourite purchase of the month. This bra is SO pretty its not even funny. It looks so incredible with the open-backed shirts that Pink sells and its also incredibly comfortable (bonusss!). I'm so glad I bought this, I honestly just can't get over how cute it is!

Shellac Manicure
So as you may have seen in my previous post, I recently went on vacation. Before leaving I decided to give shellac manicures a shot, since its something I've never tried before and I wanted to spring for a longer lasting manicure since I would be at the beach and knew my nail polish would be chipping like crazy. I know its nothing new, but to anyone who hasn't had a shellac manicure before, I very strongly suggest you try it out. I cannot praise it enough. 2 weeks of incredibly, shiny colour without a single chip. My nails were stronger than ever and did not break at all (and my nails usually break like nobody's business). It is so incredibly worth it and since I've now had it removed, I can tell you that my nails are still in great condition (it caused them no damage whatsoever besides a little dryness). It was definitely worth the money and I will be doing it again as soon as the semester is over! (Damn no nail polish during clinicals rule)

What did you love this month? Let me know! Hope you all had a lovely August and have an even lovelier September!

Best Moisturizers for Extra Dry Hands

Anyone who works in a healthcare setting (or anywhere else that requires frequent, intense hand washing) knows that there's nothing worse (and more common!) than dry, cracked hands. I have had such a hard time dealing with this problem and I've tried out so many hand creams trying to find the best of the best; fast absorbing, non greasy, intensely moisturizing and safe for sensitive skin.

I've found quite a few great creams and I thought I'd share my favourites! These are all ones that I swear by and are also safe for sensitive and eczema prone skin. If you have really dry hands or are washing your hands frequently and need a good moisturizer to keep your hands soft and lovely, these are definitely ones to try.

In no particular order.......

Lush - Formulae Known As (AKA the old Charity Pot)
I love this stuff! I picked up one of these the first ever time I shopped at Lush and I've been repurchasing it ever since. It smells so nice (kind of like chocolate!) but it also does the job right. It's also safe for sensitive and eczema prone skin which had me sold. Its a bit on the greasier side, so I like to use this right before going to bed. When you wake up, your hands will be super soft and soothed.

Curel - Hand Therapy Cream
I initially picked this up because it was on sale and I was in desperate need of a new hand cream. I'm so glad I did, because this just might be my favourite. The cream itself is so light and doesn't feel like much. But it really hydrates and soothes your skin. True to their word, this particular moisturizer is non greasy and is absorbed so quickly. I like to keep this one with me when I'm at work and apply it when my hands are feeling in need of some hydration.

Aveeno - Eczema Care Hand Cream
This one is for those who suffer from eczema on their hands. I've had this issue since I was a young kid and using corticosteroid creams is really not a good long-term option. This cream has honestly been a godsend. It soothes itching and hydrates any dry patches. After using this for a while, I've noticed a huge reduction of itching and redness on my hands, to the point where my eczema is nearly all cleared up. I like to keep one of these next to my bed (in case my hands get itchy during the night) and one in my work bag, in case I need it). If you have eczema I honestly urge you to give this a try.

Aveeno - Intense Relief Hand Cream
This is another great one for dry, chapped hands. Its a thicker cream but doesn't leave your hands greasy and absorbs quickly. Its also very soothing, so I love using this one right after a vigorous hand wash. Aveeno clearly know what they're doing when it comes to soothing, good quality hand creams.

What are you favourite hand creams? Have you tried any of these ones before? What did you think?
Let me know!

Hope you're all having a great day!

My Top 5 Favourite Lush Bath Bombs!!

After a long day, there's nothing quite like taking a warm, relaxing bath. So why not make it even nicer with a bath bomb? I've tried quite a few of Lush's bath bombs, so I thought I'd make a list of my Top 5 favourite ones!

In no particular order...

Sex Bomb
This was the first bath bomb of theirs that I ever tried and I'm still in love. It makes your bath water a gorgeous pink colour and leaves your skin super soft and silky smooth. It has a very floral scent (jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang) which I personally love (its not for everyone though, so do give it a smell and see if you like it!). Bonus: the scent lingers on your skin for a while after so you smell really great!!

I literally buy one of these every time I go to Lush. Its not the most exciting of bath bombs, colour wise but its so amazing. It smells like vanilla (and anyone who knows me will know that I'm a total sucker for vanilla scented anything), but the main thing about this bath bomb is that it will leave your skin SO soft, its amazing. It basically has little chunks of cocoa butter inside which melt in your water and leave your skin so hydrated. My only wish is that it was a bit bigger, as it is one of the smaller bath bombs.

This has to be one of the most relaxing bath bombs there is. It has a really nice lavender scent and leaves turns your bath water the prettiest colours (pinks and purples and blues!). It also softens your skin which is just another one of the many benefits of it. It does have glitter in it, which some people don't enjoy, but its a nice subtle glitter which makes your bath look like the night sky, sooo pretty! It also lasts forever in your tub!

Luxury Lush Pud
This is a seasonal bath bomb that only comes around during the holiday season but it is definitely one of my favourites. Its so so colourful and pretty in the water and smells lavender-y, somewhat like the Twilight bath bomb. This one is really fun to watch in the water as it is all sorts of colours. Definitely one to grab during the holidays.

So White
This is another one of the holiday bath bombs but its another one that I love so much. To me it smells like fresh apples and oranges. They're super huge and are such a fresh scent, it really makes me sad that they only come out during the holidays. Though they appear to be a plain, white bath bomb, they actually turn your bath water into the prettiest pale pink colour!

Have you tried any of Lush's bath bombs? Which were your favourites? Let me know! :)

Review: Lush Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo

Hello there!
So I've been on the hunt for a shampoo to tame my wild hair for ages, so I picked up this during my recent Lush visit in hopes that it would help with my thick, coarse, dry hair.

According to Lush, this has:

  • Stout to calm: For all hair types but especially beneficial for fluffy, hard-to-manage hair.
  • Friend to all scalps: Yeast improves the health of the hair and scalp.
  • For a polished finish: Organic lemon juice is a gentle cleanser that adds masses of shine and gloss.
After using this for a little while now, I can say that I'm pretty much still on the fence about it.

Pros: Though my hair is still a little frizzy, its definitely a bit better than it used to be. My hair is also softer to the touch and shinier.

Cons: I've noticed my hair gets greasier a lot quicker since using this shampoo. I also feel as though it may be drying out my scalp, but it'll take a little more time to know for sure if its because of this.

The smell: This is the part thats really got me on the fence. This shampoo has a really strong, usual scent; its a yeasty and sour smell, I guess from the stout and lemon in it. Its definitely not one of the common fruity or floral scents, and it won't be everyones cup of tea. I do notice that the smell is quite unpleasant ti me while washing my hair with it, but once your hair is dry it smells a lot better. Also, the smell will linger for a LONG time, so prepare to get whiffs of it long after washing and your pillow will probably smell like it too.

I'd suggest if you're considering trying this shampoo for the first time to get a sample to see how you get on with the scent and if it works well on your hair. It is quite pricey in my opinion, the 100mL bottle was $9.95, however you do get your moneys worth because a little goes a long way (I've had 5 to 6 washes with it so far and I've barely used up half the bottle yet.)

Overall, its a decent shampoo but definitely not holy grail status for me. I'm still not sure if I will be repurchasing this.

Have you tried it? Planning on trying it? Let me know!

Review: Lush Heavanilli Massage Bar

This was the first Lush massage bar I've ever tried, so it was definitely a whole new experience for me. As I mentioned in my Lush Haul post, I completely fell in love with the smell of this (I'm a sucker for vanilla scents!) and I just HAD to buy it.

Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. Its much more moisturizing than a simple body lotion, so I'm thinking my skin will thank me for these when the winter hits! After you rub this onto you, it does leave a greasy, sticky film onto your skin, so this is something you'd want to use on a night in after a bath, or a good few hours before you go out.

TIP: You could pair this massage bar with Lush's Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder , which will help cut the greasy feeling and just enhance the heavenly vanilla smell!

The bar melts at your skins temperature and glides smoothly onto your skin. It smells great, it feels great, and once it sinks into your skin, you'll be soft and smooth all over, its amazing. Once on your skin, it doesn't smell quite as the bar itself does (as scents tend to do), but it still smelled incredible. To me, it was like a mixture of vanilla, white chocolate and a hint of coconut.

TIP: Don't rub the pink part of the bar directly onto your skin, as you'll just be left with a pink smear. Instead, get it onto your finger and rub it into your lips. It moisturizes them so well, and leaves them nice and soft. It also leaves a faint pink tint AND tastes pretty nice too!

In all, I really loved this and I'm looking forward to trying more of Lush's massage bars. I was a little bit put off by the $10.95 price tag but after using it twice all over my arms, legs and any other rough patches, I've hardly made a dent much of a dent in it, so I'm sure I'll get my moneys worth.

EXTRA BONUS: my room smelled heavenly all day after using it!

Have any of you tried it? What did you think? Let me know!

Lush Haul!

So... I went to Lush the other day and thought I'd show you all some of the goodies I picked up from there! I had never actually been inside Lush or tried any of their products before, but I had heard such good things about them that I decided to change that! Here's some of the things I picked up!

1) Cynthia Sylvia Stout Shampoo (or as the lady in the store called it, "their famous beer shampoo")
I was a little on the fence about getting this but I decided to give it a shot. I'll probably give it a full review later on. I got the 100mL bottle which was $9.95

2) Jasmine & Henna Fluff Eaze Hair Treatment
I got this in hopes of finally finding a good hair treatment that will tame my thick, wild hair. What sold me is their claim that it will "smooth and soften fluffy, frizzy and dry hair". I've used it once so far, and it seems to have made a little bit of a difference. I'll write up a review of it once I've finished the whole pot. The price was $22.95 for a 220g pot.

3) Butterball Bath Ballistic
Of course, I couldn't leave Lush without picking up one of their bath bombs, and I am SO excited to try this out!! I've read such good things about it, and if it does as it says, I'm sure I won't be disappointed. Vanilla is one of my favourite scents and I just adore cocoa butter, so I have high hopes for this product! This was $4.95.

4) Charity Pot
I also picked up the the small 45g charity pot, which is a "luxurious cocoa butter cream". I really really love this, not only because of the fact that I know that 100% of the price I paid is going to a good cause, but... because it smells like chocolate. YUM.

5) Heavanilli Massage Bar
Perhaps my favourite purchase of all! This massage bar smells INCREDIBLE. As I mentioned before, I love the scent of vanilla and I cannot wait to use this and bring this scent around with me. If you love vanilla like I do, go give this a sniff, its amazing. I thought it was a bit pricey at $10.95 but with a smell like that, I couldn't resist (darn you Lush!!!)

I'm so happy with my purchases, and I'll probably review these as I try them. I have a feeling Lush and I are going to have a long, happy relationship ;)

Also, the massage bar and Butterball together are leaving the most lovely scent! My room smells delicious!!!
